In theory, Mattice's ruling would shut the door on the case and open the death chamber for Pike nearly 21 years after Colleen Slemmer was killed in a lengthy, torturous attack in which a pentagram was carved in her chest and a piece of her skull taken by Pike as a trophy. Pike then took a piece of asphalt and beat Slemmer in the head with it, crushing her skull. All rights reserved. Once there, she assaulted the victim and carved a satanic symbol on her body.
